The benefits of electronic documents, such as worldwide accessibility, ease of archiving and searching old records, cost savings on paper storage space, and decreased environmental footprint, go closely with the concerns that electronic records can be more easily manipulated or even forged.

When it comes to signing digital documents, it is blockchain technology that looks to dispel those doubts. Once a signature has been accepted by the blockchain network it cannot be corrupted and will remain on the blockchain forever, allowing anyone in the future to verify the document’s authenticity and integrity.

This is why ChronoLogic is rolling out CasperSign, a blockchain-based solution that allows users to digitally sign a document and verify its authenticity on the blockchain. If you haven’t already, we highly recommend you to read our previous article and find out more about the app. Built on top of HelloSign and leveraging the Casper public blockchain, our beta version of the app is now available to the general public.

Let’s take a look at how you can sign a document with CasperSign.

The signing experience starts with an email from HelloSign informing you of a signature request. You don't necessarily need a HelloSign account in order to access the document or complete the request.

  1. Open the email from HelloSign and click Review & Sign.

2. A new window will open the document that needs to be signed. Click Get Started.

3. A blue box will indicate where your signature is required. Click in the blue box.

4. You’ll be prompted to draw in or upload your signature. 5. Once done, click Insert.

6. Once your signature is inserted, click Continue at the top right.

7. Click I Agree to sign the document on HelloSign.

8. Next, you’ll be taken to the CasperSign app to continue with signing your document on the blockchain. Click Continue to sign.

9. You’ll be prompted to sign in to the digital wallet that gives you access to the blockchain ecosystem and allows CasperSign to make changes on your behalf. There are a few sign-in options available, but in our example, we continue with Google.

10. If you have access to more than one Google account, in a new window you’ll be able to choose which one to continue with.

11. Wait for a few seconds until the signing process is complete and click Continue.

You are done with signing the document on the blockchain! Now you can review the details below and see all the signatures.

Feel free to click the Transaction Hash link to see your signature in the Casper Network blockchain explorer.

After the document is signed, you can verify its authenticity using the CasperSign verification tool.

We hope you’ll enjoy using CasperSign! Feel free to give it a try and send us any feedback you have, we really appreciate it 🙂
